When you try to install Windows XP, you receive :
[Files Needed] The file 'Asms' on Windows XP Professional CD-ROM is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK. Copy files from: GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROM0\I386
Setup is having problems communicating with your CD-ROM.
To fix problem in Harddisk formatted with NTFS File System :
- When you receive the error, start a CMD session by pressing SHIFT+F10.
- Type regedit.exe and press Enter.
- Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- On the File menu, press Load Hive.
- Load %Windir%\System32\Config\System.sav.
- Enter AAA when prompted for a name.
- avigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\AAA\ControlSetn\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, where ControlSetn is the lowest control set. (ControlSet1, ControlSet2)
- Delete both UPPERFILTERS and LOWERFILTERS.
- Repeat step 07 and 08 for every control set.
- Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and Unload Hive from the File menu.
- Close the CMD prompt and allow setup to try to read the 'Asms' file.
